In short
LinesReady is a teleprompter for iPhone and Android made by MiddleDott Technologies. It works on your phone. We do not collect, store, sell or share any personal data, and we cannot see your scripts or your videos.
The app
- Your scripts stay on your phone. They are saved in LinesReady's own storage and never uploaded to us or anyone else. Deleting the app deletes them.
- Your videos are yours. When you record in LinesReady, the video is saved to your photo library (iPhone) or gallery (Android). LinesReady doesn't keep a copy.
- No accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking. The app contains no third-party code that collects data, and LinesReady itself never contacts our servers or any other service. On Android it does not even ask for internet access.
- Settings. Your choices, such as text size and speed, are kept on your phone.
Voice mode
Voice mode turns your voice into words so the script can follow you. LinesReady uses the speech recognition built into your phone for this. It looks only at the last few words it heard to find your place, saves no recording or transcript, and stops listening when you pause or close the prompter.
- iPhone. Recognition runs on the phone itself. On an older iPhone that cannot do this, iOS may send the audio to Apple to recognise it, as described in Apple's dictation privacy notice.
- Android. LinesReady asks your phone's speech service (usually Google's) to work offline. If your phone cannot recognise speech offline, that service may process the audio online under its own privacy policy, such as Google's.
Auto mode does not use the microphone at all.
Permissions
LinesReady asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it, and you can turn it off in your phone's settings at any time.
- Camera, to record yourself in LinesReady.
- Microphone, to record sound with your video and to follow your voice in Voice mode.
- Speech recognition (iPhone), for Voice mode.
- Add to Photos (iPhone), to save your videos. LinesReady can add videos but cannot see your library.
- Display over other apps (Android), to float your script over the app you film in.
Apple and Google
LinesReady is distributed through Apple's App Store and Google Play. They handle downloads and, if you allow it in your phone's settings, may share anonymous crash reports and usage figures with developers. That is covered by Apple's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy, not this one, and contains nothing that identifies you to us.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking, and loads nothing from third parties. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes the technical information needed to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse, such as your IP address, as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Emailing us
If you write to support@middledott.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include, and use them only to reply to you. We do not add you to any mailing list. Ask us and we will delete your messages.
Children
LinesReady is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no data, it collects none from children either.
Changes to this policy
If LinesReady ever needs to handle data differently, we will update this page and its effective date before the change reaches the app, and describe it in the release notes.
