How can we help?

Answers to the questions people ask most. If yours is not here, email us and a person will reply, usually within two working days.

Getting started

What do I need?

An iPhone on iOS 17 or later, or an Android phone on Android 9 or later. LinesReady is free and has no ads, and you don't need an account.

How do I add a script?

Tap the plus button in your library and type or paste your script. LinesReady saves it as you write and shows roughly how long it takes to read.

What is the difference between Voice and Auto?

Voice listens to you and moves the script as you speak, so it never runs ahead or falls behind. Auto scrolls at a steady speed you set with the slider, and doesn't use the microphone.

Reading over other apps

Which apps can I record in while the script floats?

Any app that films, such as Instagram or your phone's own camera. Open your script, tap Float, choose Voice or Auto, then tap Start floating and switch to the app you want to film in.

How does floating work on iPhone?

The script plays in a Picture in Picture window that stays on top of other apps. Drag it anywhere, pinch to resize it, or tap it to pause and play.

How do I restart or switch modes while I record on iPhone?

Touch and hold the LinesReady Dynamic Island to go back to the top, change speed or switch between Voice and Auto. You can also put a LinesReady control on the Action button (Settings, Action Button, Controls) or in Control Center, then use it without touching the screen.

How does floating work on Android?

The script sits in a small panel over other apps, with buttons to play, restart, change text size and switch to Voice. The first time, Android asks you to allow LinesReady to display over other apps.

Voice switched itself to Auto. Why?

Some camera apps take the microphone while they record, and then LinesReady cannot hear you. When that happens it switches to Auto so your script keeps moving, and tells you why.

Recording in LinesReady

Where do my videos go?

Straight to your photo library on iPhone, or your gallery on Android. LinesReady doesn't keep a copy.

Can I use LinesReady with a mirror teleprompter rig?

Yes. Tap the mirror button in the prompter to flip the text so it reads correctly through the glass.

Privacy

Do my scripts leave my phone?

No. Scripts are stored in LinesReady's own storage on your phone. There is no account and nothing is uploaded to us.

Who hears me in Voice mode?

Your phone's speech recognition turns your voice into words so the script can follow you. On recent phones that happens on the phone itself. The privacy policy explains the details for each platform.

LinesReady needs iOS 17 or later on iPhone, or Android 9 or later.
